Taxi in Carouge
Carouge is inside the canton of Geneva, so the airport transfer is covered by the flat fare — no meter, no distance calculation. Here is what a ride to and from Carouge actually costs and how long it takes.
A separate commune on the left bank, with its own grid of Sardinian-era streets, restaurants and market squares — and narrow one-way streets where a pre-booked pickup point saves time.

Flat fare or meter?
A licensed street taxi runs on the regulated meter: CHF 6.30 to get in, then CHF 3.20/km on Tariff I. Tariff II — CHF 3.80/km — applies at night, on Sundays and public holidays, and from four passengers. Luggage is CHF 1.50 a piece, and waiting time runs at CHF 60 an hour.
A booked transfer works the other way round: one price, agreed before departure, unchanged by traffic, by the hour or by the number of passengers.
Common pickup points
- Place du Marché
- Rue Saint-Joseph and the surrounding blocks
- Bachet-de-Pesay interchange
- Hôpital de la Tour side of the commune
Giving a precise pickup point rather than a street name avoids a driver circling a one-way system while the clock runs.
What to give when booking
- The exact address, and the gate or entrance if there is more than one
- The number of passengers — four or more changes the vehicle, not just the price
- Child seats and the age of each child: they are fitted before the car leaves
- The flight number for an airport pickup, so a delay moves the time automatically
Meter rates: State of Geneva, taxi regulation (article 32). Distances and durations measured by road, outside traffic. Checked 4 August 2026.
